From the Clubhouse: Do visitors get a raw deal at golf clubs?

What’s the visitor experience like when you go to another club? Are the members welcoming, do the staff go out of their way to help, or do you get the distinct sense some would rather you weren’t there?

We were drawn to an archive letter in The Times, dating back a century, which chastised seaside clubs for the reception visitors were accorded and it got us thinking, how does that experience compare with now?
